Schwäbisch Gmünd Bus Station redesign
Problem:
People of all different abilities have problems navigating the Schwäbisch Gmünd bus station.
Disability Research
We went down to the bus station as a class with wheel chairs and other instruments to impair our senses to get a better sense of how people with disabilities are able to use the bus station.
We wore goggles to simulate different severities of blindness.
Ideation
We made different layouts of the bus station map and how the information would be presented graphically.
We tried different color combinations that would work the best for the visually impaired and for everyone else to understand.
CAD mock ups for the design of the rest area of the bus stops.
Final Design
At night each bus stop lights up in the corresponding color of the platform to make it easier to identify where you need to go.
